Our preschool program integrates literacy skills through play- and theme-based curriculum. Children learn the alphabet and how to express themselves verbally, with an emphasis on conversation and phonetics. Introduction and exploration of math, science, and social studies is based on developmentally appropriate activities.
Other activities help develop happy, confident learners—children who have fun while they sing, dance, talk, rhyme, write, create, and explore. Social skills are enhanced, emphasizing the importance of positive behavior toward others, and spiritual learning is cultivated with gentle songs, Bible stories, and loving others just as Jesus did.
Our pre-kindergarten program stretches children’s understanding of language, phonics, and math, while encouraging exploration and discovery through art, nature, science, social studies, music, and movement. We accomplish this through a play- and theme-based curriculum, where children learn to take turns, solve problems, respect differences, and resolve conflicts as they prepare for elementary school. The program also establishes a foundation of reverence for biblical principles and love for Jesus. Prayer, Bible stories, and life principles of love and respect for one another are integrated into our curriculum. In addition, our all-day program includes special curricula designed to prepare kids for kindergarten.
In addition to traditional education learning objectives, our preschool and pre-kindergarten programs include prayer, Bible time, chapel, and share day.
Prayer: Prayer is a part of the daily activities at South Table Mountain Preschool. The children say “Grace” together before they eat, and pray together at other times during the day and learn to bring God into their daily lives. The goal is to nurture a relationship with God and help our children be the “hands, feet, and voice” for Jesus when we love others.
Bible Time: Bible time is part of our daily schedule and includes Bible stories, lessons, songs, and prayer.
Chapel: Twice a month children attend a 15- to 20-minute chapel session in the Faith Lutheran Church worship center. Parents are welcome to join us. Check the calendar for scheduling.
Share Day: Each class has “share day” when children can bring a positive, non-violent toy, book, CD, or other item. Share day provides a valuable opportunity for the child to develop speech and language skills, as well as self-confidence. Check news and events on the home page for to see the schedule.
